Super Eagles Striker Kayode Backing Shakhtar To Beat Austria Vienna
Published: July 05, 2018Super Eagles striker Olarenwaju Kayode has shared his thoughts on the pre-season friendly between Shakhtar Donetsk and his former club, Austria Vienna, on Thursday, July 5.
The former Manchester City loanee is unlikely to feature in the friendly as he has been undergoing individual training but hopes to start jogging on the pitch in a couple of days.
Speaking to the official website of the Ukrainian Premier League champions, Kayode stated : ''Right, I’ve spent two seasons there. They are a great team, showcasing good football.
''Their squad has only a few guys I used to play with, but I'm confident the friendly will surely be interesting.
''Austria will try to do their best against such an eminent club like ours. In my opinion, Shakhtar are stronger and must win.''
Kayode initially joined Shakhtar Donetsk on loan in March 2018 and was acquired on a permanent basis in June after penning a five-year deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2022-23 season.
The striker was on the books of Austria Vienna from 2015-2017 and scored 37 goals in 85 games.
