Former Watford and Manchester United striker Ighalo agrees move to Al Wehda
Published: August 11, 2023Saudi Arabian Pro League club Al Wehda are on the brink of announcing the capture of Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo.
According to Sky Sports, the former Watford and Manchester United star has agreed a two-year deal with Al Wehda, and he is set to have a medical with The Red Giant in the coming days.
Ighalo is currently unemployed after failing to agree terms with Al-Hilal on a contract extension.
Al-Hilal are desperately in search of a replacement for Ighalo and have attempted to lure Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Victor Osimhen to the club without success,
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer has established a reputation as one of the best No. 9s in the Saudi Pro League, having scored 52 goals in 71 career appearances in the division.
He was named Saudi Professional League Player of the Month for April and May 2021, and March 2022, and won the top scorer award for the 2021-2022 season.
During his spell with Al Hilal, he won the Saudi Pro League as well as the King Cup and was named in the matchday squad for the Fifa Club World Cup final.
Ighalo's other clubs include Lyn, Udinese, Granada, Cesena, Changchun Yatai, Shanghai Shenhua, Prime and Julius Berger.
