Atletico Madrid-owned striker Samuel Omorodion jointly wins La Liga award
Published: March 01, 2024Atlético Madrid-owned striker Samuel Omorodion alongside his Deportivo Alavés colleague Alex Sola have won the LA LIGA EA SPORTS Best Play award for February for their goal against Barcelona.
With the tie at 2-0, the duo combined to give Alavés a lifeline with Sola dribbling past Frenkie De Jong before putting a cross with the outside of his right boot which was met by the head of Omorodion who had out-jumped Ronaldo Araujo.
The pair's effort would not harm Barcelona as the Catalonia-based club went on to seal their victory via Vitor Roque's effort in the 72nd minute.
Omorodion was also nominated for the U23 Player of the Month but lost out to Johnny Cardoso who notched one goal and an assist for Real Betis last month.
The 19-year-old is on loan with Alavés from Atlético Madrid, and is playing in the Spanish top-flight for the first time in his career.
He has been one of the best players for the Blue and Whites this season despite his inexperience and has registered double figures for goal involvements.
He has started 16 games in the La Liga this term, scoring nine goals and registering one assist.
