'Fantastic couple just like in Nigerian national team' - Ex-Napoli star has his say on Osimhen v Lookman duel
Published: March 28, 2024Former Napoli striker Gianluca Savoldi has tipped Super Eagles forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman to play a key role in the Serie A clash between Napoli and Atalanta.
Napoli and Atalanta are set to clash at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Saturday with both sides jostling to finish in European spots.
Napoli as ever would be relying on Osimhen to deliver the goods against the visitors as they hope to finish what has been an underwhelming season strongly.
Atalanta would also be hoping Lookman can help them pay the defending champions in their own coin, having lost the first leg at home to the Naples-based club.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Savoldi has predicted that the two Super Eagles forwards will be decisive in the clash and heaped praises on the duo.
"Victor Osimhen and Lookman are wonderful and scary together, they are a fantastic couple just like in the Nigerian national team," he told Corriere dello Sport via footballnews24.
"The match between Napoli and Atalanta will take place and I'm sure that they will both be decisive even if they don't score a goal, assist or shot on goal.
"These types of footballers have a great peculiarity, namely the way they condition and defend. Osi is devastating because no one would do a one-on-one with him in the open field".
Lookman scored the only goal for Gian Piero Gasperini's side in the reverse fixture to take his career goal tally against Napoli to two.
He has scored eight goals and assisted three times in 22 appearances in the Serie A this season.
Similarly, Osimhen has also scored two goals against Atalanta in the seven appearances he has made against them.
The lanky striker has 11 goals and three assists in 17 league appearances this term.
