Published: April 09, 2024The Super Falcons played a barren draw with South Africa in the second leg of the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers, thereby securing their place in the summer competition having won the first leg by a lone goal.
Allnigeriasoccer.com runs the rule over the players involved in the game.
The starters
Goalkeeper
Chiamaka Nnadozie: The reigning CAF Goalkeeper of the Year had a quiet first half but was forced to make two good saves in the second to ensure her goal wasn't breached. 8/10
Defenders
Michelle Alozie: While she didn't bump forward like she always does, she defended thoroughly denying Thembi Kgatlana any sort of momentum. 8/10
Osinachi Ohale; The veteran centre back showed why she's a big game player. She led by example, defended on the strong foot and barely lost any of her tackles. 7.5/10
Christy Ucheibe: The midfielder turned center-back didn't put a foot wrong and ensured that Oluwatosin Demehin wasn't missed again. 7/10
Chidinma Okeke: The 23-year-old picked it up from where she left in the first leg and defended well throughout the game.7/10
Midfielders and strikers
Halimatu Ayinde: Always at alert to steal the ball away from the opposition, held the ball well and made simple but accurate passes. 7/10
Deborah Abiodun: Once again showed why she has been Dubbed the "Nigerian Kante" as her industry yet again stood out in the middle of the park though made some unnecessary and inaccurate long passes particularly in the first half 8/10
Jennifer Echegini: Not an outstanding performance from the Juventus midfielder but held the ball well and showed some great footwork in the first half. 6/10
Rasheedat Ajibade:The skipper was industrious as ever, carried the ball forward when she had to but was also guilty of not offering much in the final third. 6.5/10
Uchenna Kanu: It was a quiet afternoon for the forward who had to be brought off due to a head injury. 5/10
Chinwendu Ihezuo: Got the first shot on target of the game but became anonymous offensively afterwards but led the press the well. 6.5/10
The substitutes
Toni Payne: Made a good run when she came on and didn't offer much afterwards. 6/10
Esther Okoronkwo: Worked hard when she came on but couldn't offer much offensively. 5.5/10
