'Doing well' - AC Milan coach Pioli reveals Samuel Chukwueze is ready to play against Juventus
Published: April 27, 2024Speaking on the eve of AC Milan's Serie A clash against Juventus at Allianz Stadium in Turin, manager Stefano Pioli confirmed that Samuel Chukwueze is in contention to feature against the Bianconeri.
The Juventus v AC Milan clash is important as the result on Saturday is likely to influence whether the Bianconeri or the Rossoneri clinch the runner-up spot in Serie A by the end of the season.
Chukwueze has yet to break into Milan's starting lineup despite his impressive performances in recent weeks, with United States dazzler Christian Pulisic ahead of him in the pecking order of right wingers.
Another player of Nigerian descent signed last summer in cap-tied Switzerland international Noah Okafor has also seen his first team opportunities limited, logging 856 minutes spread across 32 matches.
Pioli did not confirm whether Chukwueze and Okafor are options off the bench against Juventus or if they are going to feature from the very beginning of the game.
In quotes relayed by AC Milan's official website, he stated: "Leão will be captain in Turin, he is the same as the rest of us on the eve of the game. Okafor and Chukwueze are doing well and will be ready to play, then I have to make some other choices for the line-up. "
Chukwueze has started thirteen of the 47 games played by the seven-time European champions this season.
AC Milan are on a poor run of form at the moment, having failed to win any of their last four matches in all competitions, including defeats to AS Roma in the Europa League and a loss to bitter rivals Inter Milan in the Serie A.
