Injured Austin Ejide REFUSES To Sit On The Bench
Published: April 20, 2014
After complaining of a back problem for most past of last week, Austin Ejide failed to make his 31st appearance in the Premier League as Hapoel Beer Sheva took on fifth on the table Maccabi Haifa.
The Nigeria international was supposed to be included in the 18 - man roster but he strongly rejected the offer from manager Elisha Levy .
To put it another way, Austin Ejide was mindful of the fact that observers might think he was dropped to the bench due to a decrease in form after all the Camels have failed to win their last five matches in all competitions while conceding 9 goals.
“If I am not playing, do not compromise me. I do not want to sit on the bench. I am suffering from intense pain., Why should I sit on the bench?”Sports Walla quoted Ejide as saying.
The club took the decision of the Brazil bound goalkeeper in good faith, therefore, he will not be sanctioned financially.
