Official : Fenerbahce Bid Farewell To Joseph Yobo
Published: August 29, 2014
Turkish champions Fenerbahce have mutually agreed to terminate the contract they have with former Nigeria skipper Joseph Yobo, less than a year before the agreement would have expired.
Because of the foreign quota rule in the Super Lig, the Yellow Canaries did not plan to register him for the championship, which will begin this weekend.
In addition, the central defender’s transfer fee was fixed at 1.5 million Euros which scared suitors that were interested in his signature.
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been specially informed that Joseph Yobo had threatened to report Fenerbahce to Fifa if the club failed to release him from his deal prematurely, since he was not in their plans for the upcoming season.
During his four - year stay with the Istanbul outfit, the stopper appeared 90 times in the topflight, scoring 3 goals.
