Ex Footballers Set For Unification Match In Ibadan

In a bid to further strengthen the bond between players residing in Ibadan,both active and retired, and to raise funds to assist the ones in distress, Heroic Image Sports Club has concluded plans to stage a unification football match between footballers from the East and Western part of country.
The match, according to the president of the club that is organizing the event, Kenneth Umehwho addressed the press during a get-together held on Sunday for their friends and families, has been scheduled to come up on the 14th of December at Lekan Salami Sports Complex Ibadan.
3SC Team Manager, Dimeji Lawal who doubles as the coordinator of sports club also told newsmen that notable ex-players, such as Ike Shorunmu, Super Eagles Goalkeeper trainer, Gbenga Okunowo, Duke Udi ex-Shooting Stars and Super Eagles midfielder, now Coach of Giwa FC, Bright Omokaro, Tony Alegbe all residents in Ibadan would all feature in the match.
“This unification game which was instituted to further foster more unity among ex-players in the state was held last year, but we intend to make this year’s edition more exciting and clamorous with aim of raising funds from well meaning individuals invited to the event to assist some of our colleagues that are in distress”.
“We must be grateful to some of Igbo business men such as Chief Osita Obodoekwe (OwelleNdigbo), CEO of Brighton Hotel and Chief John Chukwuemeka Nnanna, CEO of Jonceil Ltd that have shown tremendous support to this cause by donating towards successful hosting of the event”, said Lawal, member of the Darman miracle ‘89 Flying Eagles’ squad.
