Obafemi Martins Named To MLS Team Of The Week, In Contention For Goal Of The Week

Seattle Sounders marksman Obafemi Martins has been named to the Team of the Week for the ninth round of matches in Major League Soccer.
The experienced striker was recognized as one of the most outstanding players in the MLS this past week after netting a brace against New York City FC on Sunday night.
The editors of mlssoccer.com said about Martins : “ One side of the potent strike force that dismantled NYCFC. His speed got him behind the NYC defense twice, and he buried both finishes.”
Also, the former Nigeria international has been nominated for the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week along with Fabian Castillo (FC Dallas), Charlie Davies (New England Revolution), Mauro Diaz (FC Dallas) and Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto FC).
In seven outings this season, Martins has found the back of the net six times in the league.
