Two - Goal Hero Fanendo Adi Pleased To Win Individual Contest Against Seattle Sounders Star Chad Marshall Two second half goals by Fanendo Adi helped Portland Timbers defeat Seattle Sounders 4 - 1 in the MLS on Monday morning at Providence Park.

The former Dynamo Kiev and FC Copenhagen striker scored his first goal of the game in the 74th minute before increasing the tally two minutes later to give Timbers a two - goal cushion.

On a personal level, Adi said he was pleased to win the individual contest against Seattle Sounders defender Chad Marshall.

“For me, I knew I was playing against one of the best defenders in the league. I respect [Chad] Marshall a lot,”   Adi told timbers.com.

“I think he defends very well. So coming into the game, I had to prepare extra well. ” 

He went on : “Knowing that I had three good players underneath, I just had to hold up the ball back to them. I was lucky today.

“The balls were coming in at the right places and I was in the right places at the right times.” 

Since he joined Portland Timbers in 2014 from FCK, Fanendo Adi has notched 7 braces in the league.
