Published: August 02, 2015
Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders continued their slump in the league after losing 3 - 0 at home to Vancouver Whitecaps in their 23rd match of the season.
Most of the pre - match talk centered around whether or not Nigeria international Obafemi Martins was going to make a return to the pitch, having been on the sidelines for more than six weeks.
However, Seattle Sounders manager, Sigi Schmid , omitted him from the starting XI and the subs bench after the former Nigeria international failed a fitness test hours leading up to the clash at CenturyLink Field.
Following the loss to Vancouver Whitecaps, Sounders have been defeated 7 times in their last 8 games since Martins’s injury - enforced absence.
