NFF President : Super Eagles Have No Excuse To Lose To DRC
Published: October 09, 2015
NFF President Amaju Pinnick has called on the Super Eagles to finish licking their wounds after they were beaten by the Leopards in an exhibition match on Thursday night.
The build- up to the game against the Central Africans was overshadowed by a well- publicized dispute between coach Sunday Oliseh and Nigeria’s most capped player Vincent Enyeama, and the goalkeeper had to call time on his international career.
“There is no time for us to dwell on this defeat (by DR Congo). We were not at the last Africa Cup of Nations finals, but the Congolese were there and finished the tournament as bronze medal –winners, ” Pinnick told the nff.com.
“It is not an excuse to lose to them. But it is a fact. However, I have no doubt in your ability to turn things around when we play Cameroon on Sunday.
“That means you need to put this defeat behind you and focus hard on Sunday’s match.”
The Super Eagles will clash with Cameroon at the Edmond Machtens Stadium in Brussels on Sunday, starting from 1900 hours Nigerian time.
