Exclusive : Sunderland Trialist Chinedu Obasi Awarded German Citizenship In March & Will Beat Red Tape

Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Chinedu Obasi is in the possession of a German passport and will therefore escape the strict work permit requirements needed to play in the English Premier League.

Sunderland manager is expected to make a decision whether or not to offer the Nigeria international a contract next week should he prove he is in tip - top condition.

But first things first, Chinedu Obasi was awarded German citizenship in March 2015, having successfully applied for the document after spending eight years in the country.
