The home team were leading 2 - 0 at the break but Eleke struck his 11th goal of the season in the 46th minute to reduce the deficit temporarily.
The second highest goalscorer in Slovenia has refused to point an accusing finger at his teammates after the game at the Ljudski vrt (Maribor), saying the team were unlucky to lose.
“We played very well in the game but made mistakes but I believe we did very well, just that we conceded goals, ” Blessing Eleke said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“They scored all their goals through defensive errors but it is not one person’s fault, it is everybody’s I pray the next game will be better. ”
Eleke is enjoying a rich vein of form with 4 goals scored in his last 5 matches but is behind Olimpija Ljubljana frontman Andra šporar, who has netted 17 times, in the battle for the top scorer award.
“Only God knows whether I will catch up with him, God did it for him. If God wants me to score more goals that Sporar I will do that.
“I thank God for him, it is not by his own making that he is the top scorer. Last season, it wasn’t like this for me but I have improved this season,” Eleke added.
