Former England midfielder Steven Gerrard has revealed his disappointment with the decision of Liverpool not to sign Anglo - Nigerian Dele Alli as his replacement prior to his move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 19 - year - old Alli has blossomed for the White Hart Lane outfit in the Premier League so much so that he has been promoted to the senior England squad and has appeared 4 times for the Three Lions since his debut against Estonia.
“He looks ahead of me as far as England games and appearances are concerned, ” Gerrard said to London Evening Standard.
“I was actually disappointed Liverpool didn’t sign him. I thought he was certainly a player Liverpool might’ve tried to go for, especially with me coming to the end.
“He’s certainly a player that could play for Liverpool for 15 years, he’s got that ability.”
