Ex-Porto Starlet Jacob Njoku Set To Undergo Trials With LiverpoolLiverpool will start running the rule over ex-FC Porto youth-teamer Jacob Njoku next month with a view to a transfer in the summer transfer market, according to the player’s intermediary.

The Reds have been tracking the progress of the 18-year-old for close to a year but could not bring him to Anfield because he still had a contract with Al Oruba in the United Arab Emirates and they wanted to acquire him without paying a transfer fee.

Njoku’s deal with Al Oruba will run out in the summer, which has paved the way for Liverpool to hand him a trial.

“Jacob Njoku will travel to the United Kingdom next month along with Chidera Ejike for trials with Liverpool,” Njoku’s agent Babawo Mohammed told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“He is with Al Orooba and his contract will expire next month, so he is traveling after his contract expires.

An offensive all-rounder, Njoku does not qualify for a work permit in the United Kingdom and will be farmed out on loan to another European team if he impresses Liverpool suits during tests.

He has represented Nigeria at Under 13 and Under 15 level and could have made the Golden Eaglets squad for the 2013 Fifa Under-17 World Cup if not for injury.
