Versatile Super Eagles Defender Abdullahi Shehu Has First Training Session With Dream Team
Published: June 22, 2016
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that União da Madeira defensive midfielder Abdullahi Shehu started training with the Dream Team VI on Wednesday evening ahead of their trip to the United States, where they will hold a training camp before the Olympic Games.
The former Kano Pillars star was one of the foreign-based players that applied for an American visa last Thursday and returned with the squad to the hotel after the trip to the embassy, only to leave moments later.
But Shehu returned to camp today in time for the start of this evening’s training session that was held at the National Stadium in Abuja.
With coach Samson Siasia expected to name only 18 players in his squad list for the Olympic Games, the 23-year-old is a sure bet to make the manager’s roster as he offers versatility, having played as a right-back, center-back and defensive midfielder in his career.
In addition, he caught the eye during the Super Eagles last two international friendlies against Mali and Luxembourg.
