Agent John Shittu Coy On Availability Of Chelsea Star Mikel For Olympic Games
Published: June 25, 2016
John Obi Mikel’s bonafide intermediary John Shittu remained coy about the availability of his client for this summer’s Olympic Games.
The Chelsea midfielder has been named in Nigeria’s 35-man provisional roster along with three other Premier League players, and is expected to attend a training camp in Atlanta prior to the Games if permitted by The Blues hierarchy.
Having missed out on the 2008 Olympic Games, Mikel earlier gave his word that he would love to represent the Dream Team in Brazil but Chelsea have the final say since the competition is not on Fifa’s calendar for international matches.
“I don’t know if he (Mikel) will be available for the Olympic Games or will attend the training camp, ” says John Shittu to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“The Nigeria Football Federation are in a better position to say whether he will be available for the Games or not. ”
Apart from the Olympic Games, Mikel, 29, has played for Nigeria at every tournament sanctioned by Fifa, including the U17 World Cup, Fifa U20s, World Cup and Confederations Cup.
