Arsenal Manager Hints Chuba Akpom Will Not Be Loaned Out
Published: August 26, 2016
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that Chuba Akpom will remain at the club at the end of the summer transfer window.
The England U21 international was the Gunners top scorer during pre-season but has struggled to get game time in the new season, failing to come off the bench against Liverpool while he did not make the squad against Leicester City.
Asked at Friday’s press conference if players might leave, Wenger told arsenal.com : “I don’t think so. With Joel Campbell going out, Calum Chambers maybe will go on loan somewhere . It will be alright. ”
Akpom, 20, has enjoyed loan spells at Brentford, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest and Hull City in the last couple of seasons.
The Hale End Academy product was on target against MLS All-Stars, Guadalajara, Viking and Man City during pre-season.
