Manchester City Coach Clears The Air On Injury Status Of Iheanacho
Published: August 26, 2016
Speaking at a press conference on Friday afternoon, Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has suggested that Kelechi Iheanacho is not in danger of missing the Premier League clash against West Ham on Sunday.
The Nigeria international earlier played down reports that he is set for a spell on the sidelines, and the Spanish manager has echoed his words, stating that he is in good condition fitness-wise.
“Kelechi’s injury was almost nothing so it was a scare but he’s fine. Everybody’s fit and ready - we trained with 30 players today,” said Guardiola to reporters.
Iheanacho, 19, was handed his first start of the season in Wednesday’s Champions League play-off tie with Steaua Bucharest but could not complete the game due to a muscle strain.
Based on the pronouncement of the Spanish manager, the attacker will have to report to Uyo for international duty with the Nigeria squad, as from Monday, August 29.
