Iheanacho Misses First Premier League Match In Four Months As City Claim Third Win
Published: August 28, 2016
Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho was a non-playing substitute as Manchester City claimed their third win of the new Premier League season, beating West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.
The big news leading up to the game was the injury status of the striker after he failed to complete the Citizens 1-0 win over Steaua Bucharest in midweek due to a muscle complaint, but was eventually declared fit by medics.
The truth is that City secured the three points in the opening 18 minutes when Raheem Sterling and Fernandinho got on the scorecard.
In the second half , Antonio reduced the deficit for the Hammers before Sterling added more gloss to the scoreline with his second goal of the game in stoppage time.
Today game is the first time that Iheanacho, 19, has not played for City in the Premier League since April 19, 2016 when he was an unused substitute against Newcastle United.
