Nigerian Midfielder Inspiring Older Liverpool Players After Making Big Leap
Published: October 25, 2016
Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart is delighted at the progress Ovie Ejaria is making at Liverpool since he joined the club from Arsenal two years ago.
The former Golden Eaglets trainee was handed his first team debut in the Reds third round win over Derby County in the League Cup last month, and is in the frame to add to that solitary cap tonight versus Tottenham Hotspur.
“It’s really good to see. A year ago at the Academy, (Ejaria was) playing at U18 level; it’s just really inspiring to watch him, ” the 23-year-old Steward said to liverpoolfc.com.
“I’m really happy for him because I’ve seen all the steps of him developing.
“It’s competitive and we’re all going after the same things but it works. You talk to each other about it in training and it’s a battle but it’s fun competitive. ”
Ejaria, 18, has also progressed at international level; making his debut for England’s U20 squad earlier this month.
