The likelihood of Emmanuel Emenike joining Russian Premier League club Lokomotiv Moscow in the January transfer window is low.

The Railwaymen had been interested in signing the ex-Nigeria international on loan for the next six months, but his wages have proved a stumbling block and they are now looking at other candidates.

Emenike was first linked with a transfer to Spartak Moscow who have cooled their interest in their former striker.

The 29-year-old is expected to return to Istanbul on January 6, and will continue individual training after he was suspended from the first team as a result of indiscipline.

He is attracting genuine interest from teams in China and the United Arab Emirates.
