Published: April 27, 2017
Ibadan-born Stoke City striker Shola Ayoola helped the Republic of Ireland U18s record their first win in the Slovakia Cup in Dunajska Luzna.
Ireland will compete in third place playoff after beating Turkey 2-1, with Ayoola registering his name on the scorecard in the second minute of injury time after coming on as a 68th minute substitute.
He was in the right place to turn home brilliantly from an excellent right wing cross by Alec Byrne.
Another player of Nigerian descent Michael Obafemi was named on the roster for the tournament in Slovakia but did not get a taste of action against the Turkish opponents.
