Confirmed : Chelsea Missed Out On The Signature Of Omeruo's Defensive Partner In National Team
Published: June 21, 2017
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that English Premier League champions Chelsea attempted to sign former Nigeria U20 international Ganiyu Ogungbe about the same time they snapped up Kenneth Omeruo but were unsuccessful.
The Blues had held positive talks with Ogungbe's camp but pulled out of the deal after another agent claimed to be the representative of the defender.
When asked to confirm if Chelsea made a move to sign him, Ogungbe told allnigeriasoccer.com : ''Yes it's true, Chelsea offered me a four-year contract. I was glad they made an approach.
''It was an agreement between Chelsea and my agent then, I couldn't join them because my agent was demanding too much from them.''
Ogungbe, 24, has played for Cypriot clubs Omonia Nikosia, Ethnikos and En. Paralimni, and is expected to join a new team in the summer transfer window.
