Iwobi Scored His First Arsenal Goal Two Years Ago Today & Outshone Lacazette
Published: July 25, 2017
Premier League club Arsenal have reminded their fans that Alex Iwobi scored his first goal for the first team of the club exactly two years ago today.
The Nigeria international opened his account for the Gunners against Olympique Lyonnais in the Emirates Cup, and had started the game before he was replaced by fellow Hale End Academy product Chuba Akpom in the 63rd minute
Arsenal claimed a comfortable 6-0 win over the French opponents, with Iwobi finding the net in the 35th minute.
The winger capped off a lively first-half showing by firing into the top corner after good work from Aaron Ramsey.
Arsenal new signing Alexandre Lacazette played the full game for Lyon but was kept quiet by the Gunners defense.
In the last two years, Iwobi has registered his name on the score-sheet five times in pre-season, against Bayern Munich, Viking (2), Manchester City and Lyon.
