'Nigerian Messi' Adekanye : My Target Is To Play For Liverpool First Team
Published: July 31, 2017
Ibadan-born winger Bobby Adekanye, otherwise known as the Nigerian Messi in these parts, has targeted making his competitive debut for the first team of Liverpool in the forthcoming season.
The 18-year-old's performance in pre-season has ticked the right boxes, and he is in tip-top condition.
Adekanye surprisingly made an appearance for the Reds U23 squad against his former team PSV Eindhoven in the Nuneaton tournament on Sunday afternoon, 24 hours after he was included in the starting XI versus Coventry City.
''It was emotional facing my former club PSV Eindhoven, but I was happy. After the game, I didn't discuss much with my former teammates, we were just talking about life,'' said Bobbdy Adekanye to allnigeriasoccer.com.
''I think I played against PSV because of my fitness, determination and willingness. My goal is always first team football.''
The former Barcelona youth-teamer is eligible to represent Liverpool in next season's UEFA Champions League as he has spent the last two years of his career with the Anfield outfit.
