Nigerian-Born Liverpool Winger Adekanye Named In Netherlands Squad
Published: August 18, 2017
Ibadan-born winger Bobby Adekanye is set to return from the international wilderness after he was named in the provisional Netherlands U19 squad for their upcoming friendlies.
The 18-year-old has not featured for the Dutch youth teams after suffering an ankle ligament injury while on international duty with the U17 squad in 2016.
KNVB coach Maarten Stekelenburg has taken note of the fact that Adekanye is in tip-top condition and included him in his provisional squad.
The Netherlands U19s will face Belgium (August 30), Portugal (September 1) and hosts Finland (September 4) during the international break.
Adekanye, who has caps for Netherlands U16 and U17 national teams, has not ruled out playing for the country of his birth, Nigeria, in future.
