Victor Moses Rested As Lucky Chelsea Beat Norwich On Penalties In FA Cup
Published: January 18, 2018
Chelsea moved into the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup with a 5-3 penalty shootout win over Norwich City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening after it finished one apiece.
Super Eagles winger Victor Moses was missing in the Blues matchday squad for the encounter.
Both sides hit the woodwork in a breathless first period, first from Danny Drinkwater who was denied by a fingertip save from Angus Gunn before Nelson Oliveira's lob over Willy Caballero skimmed just off the crossbar.
Michy Batshuayi steered home to give Chelsea the lead from a Kennedy's cross ten minutes after the restart but Josh Lewis struck in the fourth minute of stoppage time to put the game into extra time.
It stood without any other goals after the extra while Oliveira's penalty miss in the shootout left the visitors to rue in a match which saw Pedro and Alvaro Morata sent off in an intriguing ending.
