Published: January 30, 2018
Through a statement on their official website, EFL Championship club Brentford have announced the signing of highly-rated Irish winger Chiedozie Ogbene, subject to international clearance.
The 20-year-old has been offered a contract by the Bees following a successful trial and having completed a medical on Monday.
Ogbene has penned a three-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at Brentford until June 30, 2021.
Born in Nigeria, he moved to Ireland 13 years ago and has worn the jerseys of Irish clubs Tramore Athletic, Cork City and Limerick FC.
In an interview last year, Ogbene insisted that he's open to playing for Nigeria and Republic of Ireland, but stressed that the Super Eagles come first.
''I’m still waiting for that international call, be it Nigeria or Ireland,'' Ogbene told The Sun.
''It could happen some day, I’ll just keep believing and keep working hard, hopefully it will be happen,
''Obviously my heart belongs to Nigeria. One day I’d love to wear the Golden Eagle. Nigeria would be first for me.''
Ogbene, who is a Liverpool fan, has cited Cristiano Ronaldo as his role model.
