SpVgg Unterhaching Goal Machine Set To Spark Intl Tug Of War Between Germany & Nigeria
Published: February 08, 2018
SpVgg Unterhaching goal machine Karim Adeyemi is set to spark an international tug of war between Nigeria and Germany after making his debut for Germany 16s as they were beaten on penalties by the Netherlands in the UEFA Development Tournament in Portugal on Thursday evening.
In the game staged at Complexo Desportivo de Vila Real de Santo Antonio, the 16-year-old was named in the starting line-up by manager Michael Feichtenbeiner and got substituted on 68 minutes.
The Germans led 2-0 at the interval through a brace from Marco John from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
The second-half was ignited when Neraysho Kazanwirjo converted a spot kick in the 55th minute, before
Jaymillio Pinas equalized with six minutes left on the clock.
Adeyemi had represented Bavaria's regional team at U15 level, scoring two goals from four appearances before he was called up to train with Germany's U16 national team.
The highlight of his season so far has been the four goals he scored against Elversberg U17 in the B-Junioren Bundesliga Süd/Südwest in September 2017.
The striker, who is contracted to SpVgg Unterhaching until June 30, 2020, is eligible to represent Nigeria through his father.
