Talented Wolverhampton Wanderers Midfielder Debuts For The United States
Published: February 10, 2018
Promising Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder of Nigerian parentage Owen Otasowie made his international debut for the United States as their U18 team came from behind to beat Costa Rica on Friday, February 9.
The box-to-box midfielder replaced Benalcazar in the 73rd minute in his maiden appearance for the Americans at any level.
Julen Cordero gave Costa Rica the lead in the 40th minute but the visitors failed to defend their lead before the end of the first half, as Indiana Vassilev restored parity in the first minute of stoppage time.
Barcelona starlet Konrad De La Fuente scored what proved to be the winner eleven minutes into the second half.
Otasowie would be hoping to make his full debut when USA U18s face Costa Rica in their final game of the training camp in Florida on Sunday, February 11.
This season, the central midfielder has recorded 6 appearances for Wolves in the U18 Premier League, scoring one goal against Newcastle United in October.
In future, there would be a three-way battle over the senior national team he pledges allegiance to as he is also eligible to represent England.
