Etebo, Akpeyi Receive Nigeria Call-Ups For Poland, Serbia Pre-World Cup Friendlies
Published: February 13, 2018
According to information gathered by allnigeriasoccer.com, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has kept faith with Daniel Akpeyi, with the German tactician handing the goalkeeper a call-up for next month's friendlies against Poland and Serbia.
The Chippa United netminder has already received an invitation to attend both games in Europe and has started making travel arrangements.
The jury may still be out on Akpeyi but the fact remains he has kept the most clean-sheets, eight in total, of all the Nigerian goalkeepers playing for top-flight clubs this season.
Former Dream Team VI star Oghenekaro Etebo has seen his stock rise following his loan move to Las Palmas in the January transfer window, and Rohr did not think twice before including him on the roster for the friendlies in March.
The La Liga outfit have given their word that they will release the player so that he can travel to Poland, since he must join the Super Eagles on Monday, March 19 latest 1300 hours.
Nigeria play Poland on March 23 at the Municipal Stadium in Wrocław and Serbia on March 27 at the Hive Stadium in London.
