Everton's Adeniran: I Cried When I Was Released By Millwall, Charlton Rejected MeEngland U19 international of Nigerian descent Dennis Adeniran has revealed that he was once on the books of Millwall and was rejected by Charlton Athletic after undergoing trials with the club.

The midfielder made his professional debut for Fulham in August 2016 at the age of 17, before joining the Toffees on transfer deadline day a year later.

''I played for Victoria Park when I was a kid and then I had a little spell there. I got released after a year. I remember crying because I was so upset. I have always loved playing football so to be let go was just really difficult,'' Adeniran told Everton's official website.

''I then had a trial at Charlton, who were obviously another local club to me. But I didn’t get in there. When I was told ‘no’, I started doubting myself.

''It was different to Millwall because I would say I wasn’t good enough then, looking back now.''

Since debuting for England U17s against San Marino in September 2015, Adeniran has racked up 21 appearances for the Young Lions across all levels, scoring one goal.

The London native has yet to debut for Everton but trains with their first-team stars.
