Rohr: Lewandowski Will Be A Marked Man, He Scored 16 Of Poland's 28 Goals WCQSuper Eagles coach Gernot Rohr says the defenders will pay close attention to the prolific Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski with a view to stopping him from scoring in tonight's friendly at the Municipal Stadium.

The Bayern Munich and Poland number nine scored more than any other player during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Europe, finishing with 16 goals to place first ahead of Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo (15), Belgium's Romelu Lukaku and Denmark's Christian Eriksen (11).

Lewandowski is the top scorer in this season's German Bundesliga, and he's doing it by a mile, with 23 goals to his name ahead of Freiburg's Nils Petersen with 13.

''As for the remaining absentees, each of them is an important figure, but there are many others in your squad ready to replace them,'' Rohr said at Thursday's press conference.

''First of all, you have Lewandowski. It's enough to look at Poland's results in the qualifiers - Lewandowski scored 16 of the 28 goals, more than half.

''We will focus on him, although we do not forget that your national team is very strong as a whole.''

The task of keeping Lewandowski quiet will be handed to central defensive partners Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong.
