Nigerian Left-Back Bags Two Assists As Arsenal Win Premier League 2 Title
Published: April 20, 2018
On a day a verdict was made regarding the future of the club's first-team manager, Arsenal were crowned Premier League 2 Division One champions after seeing off West Ham 3-1 in their last league game of the season at the London Stadium on Friday evening.
The game had its Nigerian flair in abundance as Steve Gatting's boys claimed the title, with Joseph Olowu and Tolaji Bola starring for the Gunners while the hosts had in their ranks, Olatunji Akinola and Oladapo Afolayan; all of who started from the off.
Exciting winger, Xavier Amaechi was named among the substitutes for Arsenal.
Bola was on hand to set up two goals for Reiss Nelson and Edwards Nketiah respectively before Nelson and Nketiah combined for the third goal which killed off the encounter.
Domingos Quina grabbed a consolatory strike for the Hammers in the closing stages
All of the Nigerians in the starting XI for the two sides put in full shifts while Amaechi was introduced for Emile-Smith Rowe in the 86th minute.
Arsenal would get a chance to make it two titles for the season when they take on Porto in the final of the Premier League International Cup.
