Rohr Will NOT Be Happy With This News From Torino On Joel Obi
Published: April 27, 2018
Italian Serie A club Torino have provided a fresh update
on the condition of Nigeria international Joel Obi and it is not good
news for manager Gernot Rohr and the Super Eagles faithful.
The 26-year-old had to go off 28 minutes after coming off the bench against AC Milan on April 18 after picking up an injury, few days after he was involved in a serious car crash.
Ahead of Sunday's league match vs Lazio, Torino have confirmed that Joel Obi has not been involved in full training at Filadelfia, and added that the central midfielder is still receiving treatment.
Rohr has been speaking on this subject following his return to Nigeria, saying four players he intends to name on the provisional roster Leon Balogun, Joel Obi, Eddy Onazi and Tyronne Ebuehi are recovering from injuries.
In addition, Bursaspor defender William Troost-Ekong has lost his first-choice status after manager Paul Le Guen was relieved of his duties earlier this month.
Joel Obi was left out of the 2014 World Cup squad after he was unable to prove his fitness during the Super Eagles training camp.
Despite his well documented injury problems, the former Inter Milan starlet is having a banner season, with 5 goals in 22 appearances in the Serie A, his best ever goals tally since he turned professional.
