World Cup Countdown: Top Five Latest Goals Scored By Nigeria

Legendary Italian striker, Alessandro Del Piero shares the honour of netting the latest ever World Cup goal which came in after 121st minute with Algerian midfielder, Abdelmoumene Djabou, the former scoring in the 2-0 win over Germany in the 2006 edition while the latter achieved that feat in the 2014 tournament yet against Germany, though finishing 2-1 in favour of the Europeans.
Those two goals still stand as the latest ever scored in a World Cup competition till date and certain Super Eagles players at the tournament had tried to replicate the feat in some way.
As such, we would run down the top five latest efforts Nigerians had recorded at the greatest of world sports competition in this piece.
Emmanuel Amunike's 55th minute effort in the 3-0 trashing of Bulgaria at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas back in 1994 would come in as the fifth latest, the showdown being the country's first ever game at the competition.
At the 2010 tournament, Yakubu Aiyegbeni 69th minute penalty restored parity for the Super Eagles in a 2-2 draw with South Korea at the Durban Stadium in South Africa.
Thirteen years before then, Tijani Babangida had rounded off the scoring in the 77th minute, albeit in a 4-1 loss to Denmark in a second round clash in France.
Then, it was former Super Eagles gaffer, Sunday Oliseh who crashed home a pile driver after 78 minutes in a famous 3-2 victory over tournament favourites, Spain in the same France '98 edition in their first group game.
And finally, Daniel Amokachi was on hand to score in the fifth minute of added time (95th) at the Foxboro Stadium, USA as Nigeria claimed a 2-0 win over Greece in their third group game of that 1994 edition to stand out as the latest goal the country has managed in the competition.
