Official:Nigerian Midfielder Frustrated Out Of Tottenham Pens Pro Deal With Reading
Published: May 11, 2018Championship outfit Reading have announced via their official website that promising Nigerian youngster Moroyin Omolabi has penned his first professional contract with the club.
The former Tottenham Hotspur U18 star bagged a deal after netting two goals in seven starts whilst on trial with Reading Academy, he was an unused substitute in the U23s 3-1 loss at Aston Villa in March.
Omolabi's registration with Spurs was cancelled by mutual consent at the end of February, few months after he committed his international future to Nigeria over England.
The Royals have also informed that offers have been made to U23 defenders Akinwale Odimayo and Jamal Balogun to prolong their stay at the club.
Second year academy scholar Leon Sholafunmibabajide Okuboyejo has been notified that he will not be re-engaged by Reading following the conclusion of the 2017-18 season.
Super Eagles striker Sone Aluko and ex-Liverpool defender of Nigerian descent Tiago Ilori are amongst those retained by the club ahead of the start of preseason preparations.
