Four Players Of Nigerian Descent Help Chelsea Set New English Record After Win Vs United
Published: May 19, 2018Victor Moses and Chelsea set a new English record following their hard-fought 1-0 win over Manchester United at the National Stadium in London this evening.
Throughout 47 years of history when the FA Cup, Women's FA Cup and FA Youth Cup were contested together, no club has managed to win the three trophies in the same season until Chelsea achieved the feat today.
Four players with close ties to Nigeria helped the London club set this record : Victor Moses, Tariq Uwakwe, Faustino Anjorin and Eniola Aluko.
While the Super Eagles creator put in a full shift against Manchester United, Lagos-born frontwoman Eniola Aluko played the last five minutes of Chelsea Ladies 3-1 win over Arsenal in the final of the FA Women's Cup on May 5.
In the Youth category, Faustino Anjorin and Tariq Uwakwe were involved in the final against Arsenal, which ended 7-1 on aggregate over two legs.
Moses previously won the Premier League and UEFA Europa League with The Blues.
