Official: Ex-Arsenal Schoolboy Fela Pens Three-Year Scunthorpe United Deal
Published: May 21, 2018Through a statement on their official website EFL League One team Scunthorpe United have announced the signing of Nigerian striker Olufela Olomola from Premier League side Southampton.
The 20-year-old has inked a three-year contract and becomes the first signing by The Iron in the summer transfer window.
Previously, Olomola was on the books of Arsenal and had captained their U18 team before his switch to Southampton in 2014.
Speaking on the deal, he said : ''I’m absolutely delighted to get it done. This has been something that I’ve wanted to get done for a while now and I’m raring to go.
''I just want to show everyone what I can do. The club contacted Southampton about me and as soon as I heard Scunthorpe was interested in me, I wanted to get it done.
''I’m a striker. I like to score goals and I like to create goals as well. I want to work for the team, I’m a winner.''
Olomola spent the first half of the 2017-18 season on loan at League Two club Yeovil Town, scoring 7 goals in 21 league appearances.
