Eagles Training : Rohr Keeping His Cards Close To His Chest, Trying Out Different Formations
Published: June 20, 2018Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr is keeping his cards close to his chest ahead of the national team's second Group D fixture of the World Cup against Iceland on Friday, June 22.
The German football tactician has yet to make up his mind on the starting lineup and has been trying out several formations in practice before the game at the Volgograd Arena.
There were concerns that Croatia had advance information on how the Nigeria team was planning to lineup plus their tactics before their Group D opener last weekend.
Though there have been some crazy lineups and changes being bandied about the Nigerian media, Rohr will make a final decision on the eleven players that will take to the pitch only twenty-four hours before they face the Nordic country.
And to guard against the lineup being leaked as was the case against Croatia, the former Bayern Munich defender has been setting up the Team A and Team B with different players every training session.
One of the most experienced players in the Super Eagles squad who is a defender pointed out to Rohr at a team meeting on Wednesday that the lineup for the Croatia game has been leaked to the media back home and the German dismissed it out of hand, saying that he has been changing the players on each team during practice.
The Super Eagles will fly out to Volgograd on Thursday morning and will hold their final training session in the afternoon before they face Iceland the following day.
