Why Swiss-Nigerian Goalie Osigwe Is Wearing The No. 58 Shirt In New Season
Published: July 20, 2018Swiss-Nigerian netminder Sebastian Osigwe has opted to wear the number 58 shirt in the 2018-2019 season despite being the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at Swiss club SC Kriens.
Osigwe says he chose that jersey number in honour of his late mom, who was born in 1958 and passed away ten years ago.
Writing on Instagram, he stated : ''Ready for the season 18/19💥 Maa we made it!!🙌🏽.''
''In honour of my Mother that passed on to glory, my jersey number will be her year of birth till the end of my pro-career.
''I will never forget the boots and kits you bought for me and all the times you drove me for training even when it was not convenient for you. You did so many things to help me become a pro!
''I will always love you Momy💞💞 Theresia Baggenstos-Osigwe 1958 - 2008 R.I.P 🕊''.
The 24-year-old Osigwe was a member of the Flying Eagles squad at the 2013 Toulon Tournament, he made his debut in a 1-1 draw against Belgium.
