Manchester City fell to a narrow 1-0 loss against their International Champions Cup opponents, Borrusia Dortmund on Saturday morning in one of their pre-season activities held at the Soldier Field Stadium.
Three players of Nigerian descent were named in the Citizens matchday squad in Chicago, attacker Lukas Nmecha starting while Tom Dele-Bashiru, Nathaniel Ogbeta and Tosin Adarabioyo were afforded places on the bench.
While Dele-Bashiru came on in the 66th minute to replace Brahim Diaz and Nmecha making way for Patrick Roberts 17 minutes from time, there was no senior debut for promising 17-year old defender Ogbeta while Tosin Adarabioyo was also not utilized.
Even though Pep Guardiola's side went down 1-0 to a Mario Gotze penalty goal, they were impressive in the second period and Nmecha could have grabbed an equaliser in 70th minute after linking up well with Riyad Mahrez in the box but was denied by Dortmund goalie, Hitz.
