Leon Balogun On Premier League Strikers: They Have More Quality Than World Cup StrikersLeon Balogun has opined that the strikers in the Premier League are slightly better than the frontmen that represented their nations at the 2018 World Cup.

Mohamed Salah, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, Jamie Vardy, Raheem Sterling, Romelu Lukaku and Roberto Firmino were among the top seven goalscorers in the English topflight last term and all the aforementioned players were in action in Russia.

Of the top thirteen players with the highest number of goals at the 2018 World Cup, only three in the shape of Kane, Lukaku and Eden Hazard are on the books of Premier League clubs.

Previewing the upcoming season,  Balogun told Brighton's official webpage : '' The strikers in the Premier League will have a bit more quality than the World Cup in my opinion, and I think the qualities of the offensive players in the division mean it will be an exciting challenge for me.

''I’ve come into a side where the two central defenders did very well last year – I just have to do my best, work hard and then you hope it’s enough.

''I can’t come in and say I’ve played in the World Cup and I should start – it has to be about me earning a place in the team."

Balogun, who started all the games played by the Super Eagles at the World Cup, is competing with Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy for one of the central defensive positions in the new season.
