Official: FK Slutsk Announce Signing Of U17 World Cup-Winning Defender
Published: July 27, 2018Belarusian Premier League club FC Slutsk have completed the signing of Aliyu Abubakar on undisclosed terms.
The central defender is joining FC Slutsk as a free agent after recently terminating his contract with Finnish club PS Kemi.
Abubakar was a key member of the Nigerian U17 National National Team that won the World Cup in 2013, playing five matches for the Golden Eaglets including the final against Mexico.
The 22-year-old is a product of Mutunchi Academy, the Kaduna-based grassroots clubs that produced ex-Flying Eagles star Musa Yahaya, now with Porto.
He started his career abroad at FC Ashdod in Israel before switching to KuPS and Dila Gori in that order.
Abubakar, who is equally comfortable playing as a right back, has made over 58 appearances for the foreign clubs he has represented.
FC Slutsk are fifth on the Belarusian Premier League table with 30 points after 17 matches.
