The former Gent star has been not been summoned by manager Paco López for their opening match in La Liga against Real Betis at Estadio Benito Villamarin today, Friday.

Simon was a certainty to be named to Nigeria's 23-man roster for the 2018 World Cup but had to be replaced by Crotone frontman Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo after suffering an injury in the team's training camp in Uyo.
Ahead of the trip to Seychelles for the AFCON qualifier, manager Gernot Rohr will definitely not invite Bursaspor's Abdullahi Shehu and Benfica's Tyronne Ebuehi for the game as they are both injured.
Whilst the former Kano Pillars star is out of action for the next one month, Ebuehi has suffered a long-term injury and will not return until 2019.
Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho and skipper Obi Mikel are in contention to be called up after they recovered from their respective ailments.
