Nigeria International Striker On Target For Brighton & Hove Albion WFC
Published: September 17, 2018Ini Umotong was on target in Brighton & Hove WFC's 3-1 win over the London Bees in the group stage of the FA Continental Tyres League Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The Nigeria international striker opened her account for the season against Tottenham Hotspur in the Cup but fired blanks in their league opener against Bristol City prior to yesterday's game at the Broadfield Stadium.
Howells fired a left-footed shot to give London Bees the lead in the 22nd minute but the lead lasted only five minutes, with Umotong making it 1-1 with a close range finish after using her strength to go past her marker.
With the scoreboard reading 2-1 Brighton, the Super Falcon would have doubled her team's advantage but her effort from the edge of the box was saved by goalkeeper Quantrill.
Brighton's first change saw Peplow replace Umotong twenty minutes into the second half.
Up next, the Nigerian and her teammates travel to Damson Park in the West Midlands, where they face Birmingham City on Wednesday, September 19.
