Real Madrid, Barca, Liverpool & Tottenham Watch Nigerian Defender Debut For Juventus UYL
Published: September 19, 2018Highly-rated Nigerian youngster Paolo Gozzi Iweru made his UEFA Youth League debut for Juventus in their hard-fought 1-0 win against Valencia at Estadio Antonio Puchades (Paterna) on Wednesday afternoon.
The central defender was named in the 20-man traveling party to Spain by manager Francesco Baldini and made his maiden appearance in the Youth League when he replaced João Serrão on 61 minutes.
Iweru impressed on his debut for Juventus after helping goalkeeper Loria to post a shutout though he was penalized for a foul on Guillamón in the 75th minute.
According to Scouts in Attendance, representatives from Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Leeds United, Wolverhampton Wanderers were at the stadium to run the rule over the youngsters on both teams.
Scouts from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Olympique Lyonnais and Atlético de Madrid also watched the match.
Italy U18 international Elia Petrelli netted the game-winning goal for Juventus in the 70th minute.
Paolo Gozzi Iweru was born in Torino to Nigerian parents seventeen years ago.
